Acting Tip #01 Don't rush when saying your lines. Listen intently to what the other character is saying to you first, as if it is the first time you are hearing it. Think about the pauses that happen naturally in everyday conversation as you take in what the other person has said to you.
Acting Tip #02 Study actors you admire and identify what you like about their acting and then do some research on what acting techniques they use that have helped them develop their acting skills. Acting Tip #03 Stay positive. It's a highly competitive & tough industry so it's hard not to get down sometimes or feel like giving up, but the people who make it are not necessarily the most talented or best looking, it's the ones who never give up despite what obstacles they face. Acting Tip #04 Never read a script just once for understanding. You must read it over and over again, breaking down the script further each time until you know exactly what is happening in the scene and have a deep understanding of the intent behind your lines as well as the other character's lines so that your reaction to them is meaningful. Acting Tip #05 Be aware of any nervous habits you might need to keep at bay such as rocking on your feet or fidgeting with your hands. It shows how nervous you are and takes away from the believe ability of the character you are trying to play. Acting Tip #06 Pick the right monologue for you. As your monologue is often your main selling tool it should be one that highlights your strengths. Pick a monologue that is appropriate for your level of experience and training. One that is too advanced will only show your weaknesses. Research and break down the monologue so that you are prepared if the casting director asks you questions about your character, the story, or its themes. |
