The Top 3 Things Every Actor Needs To Know About Monologues
Video Transcript:
Hi everyone and welcome, it’s Loren here from Acting Classes In Perth. In this FREE Online Acting Class, The Top 3 Things Every Actor Needs To Know About Monologues, especially if you are a beginner.
I get the question from a lot of beginner actors at our level one workshop, “what’s a monologue?” So, a monologue is a section of internal first person point of view dialogue that the character is relaying out aloud for the purposes of delivering the story to the audience.
Monologues are a great teaching tool. We do use them a lot in workshops and they are also a great tool to have for auditions, especially theatre auditions. So, I always say to actors, “learn a few monologues that you can have done because they are always going to come in handy.” So, make sure you jump on the internet, find some monologues that work with you, you can jump on google and just search for monologues or you can jump on our website. We have some monologues on there.
But also if you watch a film or a TV show and you go, “wow!” that was a really good bit of dialogue that had a really substantial area of speech with one person talking, you can adapt that to a monologue. And also, a lot of actors adapt song lyrics to be a monologue as well.so, that’s another area that you could pull a monologue from.
Well, I wish you all the best in your acting. If you haven’t done a workshop with us yet, we would love to see you there.
From myself and the team here at Acting Classes In Perth, until we see you again soon, stay safe and as always, happy acting.
