Video Transcript:
Hi everyone and welcome, it’s Loren here from Acting Classes In Perth. In this FREE Online Acting Class, The Top 3 Communication Skills Acting Can Teach You. The first is:
#1.Internal Dialogue:
What is internal dialogue? Well, internal dialogue is the dialogue or the truth that you speak inside your head, your inner thoughts. An example might be you get up every day to go to work. You put on your happy face and you walk into the office and your thought inside your head is, “Mmmmm, just another day.” That is your internal dialogue.
#2.Reading And Interpreting:
And so, another really important area is reading and interpreting the meaning between the lines or the meaning of what it is that you or your character is saying. What is the truth behind what is being said? Remember, there are so many ways to say every single line. One example could be, “I love you.”
You could say, “I love you” but use an internal dialogue of identifying that maybe the person doesn’t love the other person, or maybe the person has just realized that they love that person, in that very moment. So the way in which you deliver the lines is understand the meaning of each line and then also use the internal dialogue to communicate it.
#3.Non-verbal And Verbal Communication:
And finally, remember that there are two forms of communication. There is non-verbal and there is verbal, and as an actor and as an individual, the vast majority of your communication is non-verbal. So I want you to really work on and identify how you communicate whether being life or whether being the same, non-verbally. Look at your physicality, your body language, your energy, how you are interacting with other people and how they are interacting with you. It will make all the difference.
Good luck and until I see you next time, stay safe and happy acting.
