How Important Are The Lines In A Script
Video Transcript:
Hi everyone and welcome, it’s Loren here from Acting Classes In Perth. In this FREE Online Acting Class we are going to ask a very important question:
How important are the lines within a script that you're working on.
1. The lines work together with the non-verbal communication:
Well, number one, the lines work together with the non-verbal communication that you are using to tell that story, so they are very-very important. That verbal and non-verbal go hand in hand.
2. Lines help develop motivation for the character:
Number two, they help develop motivation for the character and inevitably will help or either obstruct the character from reaching their overall objective.
3. Actors need to know these lines as they are written
And finally, number three, actors need to know their lines and their dialog as they are written. Why? Well, because that's what you're signing up for and that's what the writer and the director have worked with. And it is so important, especially, within a professional project. Try to fight or avoid the urge to do any rewriting of dialog unless you have cleared it with the writer and director first.
From myself and the team here from Acting Classes In Perth, - we hope that you have a great day ahead. Stay safe and, until I see you next time, happy acting.
